Weather Balloon Launch

We will be launching two weather balloons from the Norman Lockyer Observatory, to gather data from the atmosphere.  At the end of the day the balloons will be recovered and we will find out what it discovered!

The weather balloon project provides a significant sub theme within the festival with an input from two schools. Activities range from balloon themed walks, talks in the festival (e.g. thunder and lightning, coastal weather), Met Office Boundary layer team through to Sidmouth College and Primary School developing two experiments that will form the payload of the two balloons for the launch.

NB. the Balloon launch is weather depencent.

Venue: Outdoors, Norman Lockyer Observatory, EX10 0NY

Price for entrance to the Norman Lockyer site: £8 for adults (Children free). NB. Payment by CASH ONLY at the door.  

There is no separate charge for the activities on site.
