From a tiny, vulnerable minority of cave dwellers to the dominant and most impactful species on the planet, life has changed a fair bit for us humans over the years.
We’ve used our increasing scientific knowledge to master our surroundings, to try to improve the way we live. What have been the most significant breakthroughs? When did they happen? Who made those discoveries and what was the impact? Who are our greatest ever scientists? We’ll touch on many things from fire, the wheel and the steam engine to the space race and the Information Age. Judge for yourself the extent to which progress has been linear and the result of meticulous preparation versus sheer chance! See how things we thought were stone cold fact just a few years ago have turned out to be less than reliable.

Phil Busby is a Chemical Engineer-turned-Logistician who previously took us through the World of Shipping Containers and the Nobel Prize. After a trip to the Science Museum recently, he wanted to learn more about the incredible breakthroughs on display there and how they’re linked. This afternoon he’s sharing what he’s discovered since then.
