The Team Behind Sidmouth Science Festival

Sidmouth Science Festival is entirely organised and run by volunteers who share a passion for bringing science to life in our community. What began as a small local initiative has grown into a well-established annual event, thanks to the commitment and expertise of the people behind it.

At the heart of the festival is the programme committee, a group that meets regularly throughout the year to plan the ten-day event. Members come from a wide range of backgrounds — including education, academia, engineering, business, communications, and public service — bringing a rich mix of skills and experience.

This dedicated team works together to design the programme, attract sponsorship, build partnerships, liaise with schools, coordinate venues, manage publicity, and ensure that every aspect of the festival runs smoothly.

The main committee is supported by a wider group of volunteers, some of whom help throughout the year while others join us during the festival itself. Their time, energy and enthusiasm are what make the Sidmouth Science Festival possible.

We are proud that the festival remains a community-led event, created by volunteers for the benefit of everyone who shares our curiosity about the world around us.
