The Government have announced that Devon’s beavers can stay.
This is a landmark decision and one of the most important moments in England’s conservation history. This decision legally sanctioned reintroduction of an extinct native mammal to England. It means that the beaver population, which lives on the River Otter and is estimated to consist of up to 15 family groups, now has a secure future.
Devon Wildlife Trust’s work to keep beavers in the wild will continue and they will monitor their activities to ensure that they continue to live happily alongside the local community. If you would like to help the beavers in the wild and support the work please contact Devon Wildlife Trust.
