An Introduction to Stargazing with Karen Hedges

Synopsis:  This talk will include some general information about stars and the Moon as well as describing some easy observing targets.  The aim of the talk is to encourage people to look up at all times of the day and night and to inspire them to learn more about what has been seen.  Karen’s resources encourage people to take a fresh look at objects they sometimes think they know well.  With her approachable manner, she is more than happy to answer any questions.

Speaker Bio: Karen is a trained telescope presenter at the Norman Lockyer Observatory and has recently produced a stargazing guide.  She has prepared and delivered many sessions to both  young observers and adults, and has wide experience as a teaching assistant.  It is this experience that has informed her approach to imparting information.  She is currently a STEM ambassador. The Moon and stars have enthralled her since childhood and she is always keen to share her enthusiasm.  Her website www.karenhedges.co.uk has details of all her books, some ideas for activities and a blog.
