Greenhouse warming, Pollution and Climate Change.
Shakespeare called the air ‘a congregation of vapours’ – each member of the congregation has its own story, and interacts with all the others. Except argon, 99% of the air is biologically produced and cycled. It keeps us warm – without the natural greenhouse, the planet’s temperature would be about -18oC.
A talk with Prof. Euan Nisbet, Department of Earth Sciences at Royal Holloway, University of London. Prof Nisbet became became deeply interested in atmospheric greenhouse gases, and began measuring methane, a potent climate warmer. He now leads a greenhouse gas team and also Project MOYA, a large UK consortium studying the global methane budget.
This talk is part of a series on Our Fragile Earth organised by Scientists in Congregations. For more information please see: https://exeter.anglican.org/making-science-and-sacraments-exciting-again/
