As cybercrime and online scams continue to rise, Devon and Cornwall Police are providing cybercrime awareness sessions. This presentation will provide a clear overview of how cybercriminals operate, and share practical, straightforward steps that individuals can take to better protect themselves online. The aim of the session is to raise public awareness and help reduce the risk of falling victim to cybercrime.
Mick Harrison is a retired Metropolitan Police Officer and Prince 2 Project Manager. He has worked in Policing for over 40 years both operationally and as a Project Manager providing IT systems for Police Forces. He now delivers Cybercrime Awareness Presentations to businesses, charities, public sector organisations and community groups right across Devon and Cornwall on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police.
Mick will be joined by Steve Shephard, CEO of the South West Cyber Resilience Centre. Steve leads their mission to enhance the cyber resilience of businesses and organisations within the South West region. Building on his extensive background as a UK Law Enforcement Cyber Protect Officer, he now steers the Centre in its strategic direction, fostering partnerships and collaborations to safeguard our community against cyber threats. He is committed to delivering impactful cyber security education, support, and solutions, ensuring that stakeholders are equipped to navigate the evolving digital landscape securely. Additionally, as a co-author of the D.O.G Online Safety Books, he continues his passion for promoting online safety, empowering users with the knowledge and tools to stay safer in the online world.
