Talk by Rick Morris, trustee of MARINElife.
This talk is part of a day of events on Saturday 17 October 2026 examining marine life.
In this presentation, Rick will introduce the fascinating whales, dolphins and seabirds that can be seen in and around Lyme Bay, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm gained from decades of observing and conserving the UK’s remarkable marine wildlife.
Rick Morris has been involved with MARINElife since 1999, when the charity was known as the Biscay Dolphin Research Programme. His journey into marine conservation began unexpectedly while travelling on a P&O ferry across the Bay of Biscay. After spotting Fin Whales from the ship, Rick’s fascination with marine wildlife quickly grew into a lifelong passion.
Over the past 25 years, Rick has played a significant role in the development of MARINElife, serving as Chairman before becoming a Trustee. Throughout that time, he has helped shape the organisation’s growth and has been a passionate advocate for the conservation of whales, dolphins, porpoises and seabirds. His dedication has contributed to advancing marine research, promoting citizen science, and inspiring others to appreciate and protect our marine environment.
