Highs and lows of editing ‘Nature’: theme and variations – Sir Philip Campbell

Friday 7th October 2022 7:30PM – 9:00PM
Location/Venue: Cellar Bar Kennaway House EX10 8NG

In this talk Sir Philip will discuss aspects of the trajectory that the publication Nature followed from 1995 to 2018 while he was its Editor-in-Chief. The theme mentioned in the title is ‘accountability’.

He will describe his sense of editorial accountabilities and how he saw them in the light of what he and his colleagues inherited from their predecessors. He will then describe variations on that theme – editorial developments and research highlights that were positive, and episodes that were not positive but which instructively illustrated aspects of accountability.

He will finish with examples of Fun!

Please note: Unfortunately, due to testing positive for Covid, Sir Philip is not able to be in Sidmouth in person. Instead, we will be playing a specially recorded talk, which will be followed by a live QA session with Sir Philip.
