The Science of helping Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge to achieve a world record in the marathon. A talk by Professor Anni Vanhatalo – Sports Science, Exeter.

Prof Anni Vanhatalo was part of the research team from the University of Exeter who worked with Nike on the audacious, high-profile “moonshot” to enable the first sub-2 hour marathon. Prof  Vanhatalo’s talk will highlight the research and expertise in the physiology of endurance sports that underpinned the revolutionary “Breaking 2” project, and which culminated in Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya setting an astonishing new world’s best marathon time of 2:00:25 in Monza, Italy, on 6th May 2017.
