Waste water treatment and our environment: the challenges ahead – Dr Nick Gardner from South West Water

Thursday 13th October 2022 1:30PM – 2:30PM
Location/Venue: Parish Church Sidmouth EX10 8LG

We all want clean and safe rivers that we can enjoy and wildlife thrives.

Increasing interest from the public, environmental bodies and new government legislation on the impact of wastewater treatment has focussed resources to accelerate the continued improvement in river water quality. How we meet those challenges, the complications both technical and scientific and the limitations of current treatment technologies in producing ever cleaner rivers, estuaries and sea are explored in this talk.

After graduating with a PhD in wastewater treatment technologies, Dr Nick Gardner has worked for the Wildlife Trusts, the Environment Agency and for the last 15 years Nick has worked for South West Water as an environmental scientist. He specialises in wastewater treatment and the impacts it has on our rivers and sea here in Devon.
