Final science festival day at Norman Lockyer Observatory

Get ready for an action-packed, unforgettable day at the Norman Lockyer Observatory as this year’s Sidmouth Science Festival comes to a close. The family fun day will take place on Sunday 13 October between 11am and 4pm with many activities and interactive experiences for exploring the fascinating world of science and discovery.

There will be space and science themed talks, walks and activities for all ages. Build and launch your own rocket, explore the wonders of the telescopes and join a fascinating planetarium show. Don’t miss the always-popular jet car building and racing – arrive early as there are a limited number of kits.

Other highlights include talks from the Space Exe Society and Institute of Physics, an interactive show, Adventures in the Chemistry Lab, with Devon Science, history walks around the observatory grounds with Neil Morley, a make your own constellation workshop for 7-12 year olds with local storyteller, Janet Dowling, and storytelling under the stars with Mike O’Leary. Other activities on site include Space Detectives, Leonardo Helicopters, Exeter School with hands-on physics, Blue Streak rocket exhibit and Owls R Us.

Tickets available on the door or save queuing time and book in advance. Entry, adults £10 children ages 0-17 free. The entry fee covers all the activities on site for the day except for the jet car kits which cost £15 each and are limited in number.
