New Community Art Exhibition at the Riverside Art Space

Our partners, Sidmouth School of Art, have opened a new outdoor exhibition, The River Sid and Its Tributaries – Where art and nature meet, at the Riverside Art Space in the Sensory Garden at the Ham, running until March 2026.

The exhibition celebrates the River Sid through vibrant artworks created by local schoolchildren, Memory Café participants and residents. It also includes works by young attendees who took part in creative workshops during the Sidmouth Science Festival in October.

Led by artists Chloe Farrant, Steve McCracken and Coco Hodgkinson, the workshops explored the river’s wildlife, ecology and the challenges it faces. The resulting collage-style installation highlights the biodiversity of the River Sid and the importance of caring for this unique local environment.

Linked displays can also be seen in Sidmouth’s ‘Micro Museums’ in Market Square, including the invertebrate-themed Riverfly installation and Opening the Sid, a collage tracing the river’s journey from valley to sea.

The project is supported by the River Sid Catchment Group, Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub and local funders.
