Family Fun Day at the Norman Lockyer Observatory

The countdown is on for an unforgettable day at Sidmouth’s famous observatory! Space and science themed talks, walks and activities for all the family. Build and launch your own rocket, explore the wonders of the telescopes and join a fascinating planetarium show. Don’t miss the always popular jet car building and racing. Highlights include:

  • Rocket build and launch workshops with Devon Science
  • Jet car building and racing
  • Planetarium shows – the sky tonight
  • Talks from the Space Exe Society and Institute of Physics
  • Show – Adventures in the chemistry lab with Devon Science
  • History walks around the observatory grounds with Neil Morley
  • Make your own constellation workshop with Janet Dowling, award-winning local storyteller (aimed at supervised 7-12 year olds)
  • Storytelling under the stars with Mike O’Leary

Entry Adults £10 children (ages 0-17) free. The entry fee covers all the activities on site for the day except for the jet car kits which cost £15 each.
